1st Contact offers a thorough ‘welcome and orientation’ service to working travellers arriving in London or the UK for the first time. You can take advantage of their Kickstart package which is a popular way to go because it is great value for money and saves a lot of time and hassle once you are in London, or in other parts of the UK.

The Kickstart package, which costs only AUS$85, NZ$99, R390 in SA, and £35 in the UK, includes:

  • UK Bank account
  • A free money transfer to get your money from home into your new UK account
  • A UK SIM card that can be used in your existing handset. (Your new UK Phone number is also provided before you leave home, which is great for your CV and Family and Friends).
  • An optional orientation meeting in London where you will learn about everything from where to find a place to live to the way the UK tax system works.
  • Guidance and information about your UK National Insurance number
  • An international calling card with free talk-time to a variety of overseas destinations.
  • Discounts on 1st Contact Services and affiliated partners:
    including tax refunds, shipping and the travel clinic.
  • 5 days free gym membership plus discounted gym contracts.

Note: no minimum deposit is required to open a bank account through this package.

How It Works

This package is operated by 1st Contact - an established traveller's service company.

Upon arrival in London, you need to contact the 1st Contact office number (given to you with the confirmation of your package via email or post) to book a time and day to attend the Orientation meeting.

Orientation meetings are held a number of times each day from Monday to Friday.

At the orientation meeting, the consultants from the bank will be present to complete the paperwork for your bank account with you and your account will then be opened within 72 working hours.

VERY IMPORTANT:You must bring your passport (showing your visa with your entitlement to work in the UK) with you to the orientation meeting in London.

If you cannot attend an orientation meeting in London, then your bank account package can be posted to a UK address.
