LTD Companies

Hi,
I need to make a decision about which LTD company I go with once I start working in the UK. I have been provided some options from the agencies I have joined-the LTD companies are Argentia, Focused and FPS. I have no idea where to begin with to decide which way to go. I'll be working as a Dietitian in the UK. Does anyone have any advice on LTD companies and how to choose? Any info would be helpful,

Hi,

It appears that the three companies you have been given are a mix of umbrella companies and Ltd companies. The difference is an Ltd company (Argentia/ Focused) are where you are the director of a company and you do the running of this yourself and at the end of the year your pay an accountant to do a reconciliation. This way can be lucrative as you only pay 21% corporations tax though there are more liabilities going this way and hidden costs. FPS is an umbrella company and this is a fully managed solution where you pay full PAYE and NI taxes but save by off setting expenses. You will pay for this service on a weekly basis and there no costs to set up or close down. This product is great if you are looking at doing some travelling when you are here as you can open and close umbrella companies with ease.

Both my friends and I work through the umbrella company myOE. We have found them to be extremely helpful – through myOE I’ve retained around 80% of my UK earnings…plus recently they have teamed up with a new IT/Finance and Banking specialist recruiter who is calling me to offer more contract roles at great rates!! They have monthly contractor drinks which are a great way to meet fellow contractors.
