Job Description
Overview of role and main responsibilities
Support the General Manager of Diagnostics, in designing and achieving the key strategic and operational objectives of the business
Represent the Clinical Physiologists on the Diagnositc Services Clinical Governance Board and support the General Manager in the management of professional risk within Diagnostics
Provide and deliver agreed Biomedical Science service to customers within agreed performance targets, ensuring appropriate professional standards are maintained
Support the General Manager in all resourcing issues for employed and self employed Clinical Physiologists, including recruitment, retention, management, coaching and mentoring
Liaise with professional heads of each Diagnostics discipline and other colleagues to ensure a co-ordinated and consistent approach to the maintenance and monitoring of professional standards and product timings
Ensure the Clinical Physiologists deliver their non-clinical responsibilities, e.g. IT, audit etc. Monitor action plans and support the allocation of resources as required to meet professional objectives
Contribute strategically to the securing of new business with new and existing customers, including business bids and tender documents, instigating pilots, and giving presentations
•Promote the professional profile of Diagnostics externally with new / existing customers and professional bodies
Support the integration all the compan's Diagnostics contracts
Provide professional support to the General Manager on policy issues and in relationships with customers.
Undertake any ad hoc responsibilities as and when requested by the General Manager.
Essential skills and experience
Qualifications ONC/HNC or equivalent professional qualification
Full unconditional registration with The Health Professional Council and The Registration Council of Clinical Physiologists or one of the professional bodies represented on the RCCP
5 years experience as a qualified Clinical Physiologist with a minimum of 1 years management experience
NHS Equivalent of AfC band 6 or higher
IT competent
Able to travel to different work locations – full driving license required
Highly developed interpersonal skills and strong understanding of, and ability to deal with people management issues
Management and leadership experience
Sound understanding of the issues relating to the recruitment and retention of Clinical Physiologists
Sound understanding of the role and implications of clinical governance
Flexible and innovative approach to delivering high quality professional services within a fast moving business environment
Establishing and maintaining a strong customer focus to ensure effective customer relations
Able to identify and address professional training and development issues
Well-developed negotiating and influencing skills
A pragmatic approach to solving problems
Highly developed written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
Evidence of effective team working
