Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Policy Planner to join a Planning Policy team for our London based Local Authority.

The post will play a key role in the ongoing preparation of the Council’s Local Development Framework and will be required to carry out work related to the preparation of Local Development Documents, including evidence gathering, policy formulation, monitoring and implementation. The main areas of work will cover input into the Core Strategy, a Development Policies DPD, and a Site Allocations DPD, including the carrying out of Sustainability Appraisal. Liaison with government agencies and other stakeholders will be expected. There is also scope to assist in the development of strategy through an Area Action Plan, to stimulate investment and improve the environment of the Borough’s major town centre.

An interest in environmental issues including open space and flooding, as well as retail and town centres would be desirable, but not essential. Experience and knowledge of UK planning policy is essential, but candidates with relevant overseas experience may be considered.
