Our colourful and diverse Borough Council is looking to recruit an interim Assistant Director of Strategic Planning and Regeneration. This position will require a highly skilled and competent planner to represent the council at local and national level, acting as ambassador enhancing the council's performance, reputation and image.

Experience in planning management is essential for this posting although not confined to strategic with development control backgrounds also considered.

The main responsibilities of the position are outlined below:

•Town Planning or similar qualification at graduate or postgraduate level and eligibility for membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute
•Work in a corporate and co-operative way with Directors, Assistant Directors and other Heads of Service.
•As a member of the environment and regeneration management team, to carry a share of the responsibility for the management of the services.
•Recruit, develop and train staff and manage their performance to meet organisational aims and objectives, including implementation of the council's appraisal system.
•Ensure that a safe working environment is provided for all employees, including relevant health and safety matters.
•Assist others to use information technology systems to carry out duties in the most efficient
and effective manner.
•Ensure effective project management of all projects in the division from start to completion and project manage specific projects as required.
•Perform any other duties determined by the Chief Executive, Directors or Assistant Directors.
•The post holder is expected to be committed to the council�fs key priority of sustainability and environmental management and to demonstrate this commitment in the way they carry out their duties.
