Job Description

Our London Borough client is seeking a Senior Policy Planner, either with UK experience or relevant overseas background.

• The post will play a key role in the ongoing preparation of the Council's Local Development Framework and will be required to carry out work related to the preparation of the published plan for the core strategy and other DPD/SPD in the Local Development Framework.
• The immediate task is to lead on the preparation of the evidence base for the Infrastructure needs associated with the core strategy growth option. This will including evidence gathering on the capital projects within the council and those from other public sector partners.
• The intention is to produce an infrastructure evidence report, an infrastructure needs schedule covering the 15 years of the core strategy up to 2025 and an implementation schedule.
• This project will involve close work with other departments within the council and in addition from the health, further and higher education and emergency services outside the council.
• The Council is also establishing a sustainability board as part of the LSP which will have responsibility for infrastructure planning issues and the post will be expected to input to this work stream. In addition the policy team is working on a development control Policies DPD, a Site Allocations DPD, and area action plans including the carrying out of Sustainability Appraisal.
• This post will be expected to assist with this additional work and in particular the sustainability appraisal. Liaison with government agencies and other stakeholders will be expected.
• An interest in environmental issues as well as basic ex cell skills would be desirable, but not essential.
