Our Hampshire based local authority client is looking to recruit a temporary Principal Planning Policy Officer to cover maternity leave.

JOB PURPOSE

To contribute to the work of the Planning Service as set out in the Business Plan within the framework of the council’s statutory responsibilities, core values and priorities. To contribute to the work in the Group in relation to the formulation of planning policies.

KEY ACTIVITIES

1.To be responsible for the preparation of planning policy documents and associated reports, studies and appraisals.
2. Attendance at working parties, meetings, conferences and seminars.
3.To provide evidence for public enquiries / independent examinations relating to planning policy, including attendance as a witness.
4.To liaise with other officers in the Planning Service, especially on planning applications where policy issues are involved, other services and Council members on all aspects of planning policy.
5.To assess external planning policies and to advise the Council.

The successful candidate will have relevant qualifications such as a Town Planning Degree as well as previous relevant experience in Planning Policy including working on the Local Development Framework.
