Job Description

The country's leading multi-disciplinary consultancy is recruiting for a planner in its Manchester office.

The successful candidate will offer support to the director and other senior planning professionals, as well as developing their own planning work.

Specific duties could include:

Planning research and policy analysis.
Monitoring of the development plan process.
Preliminary site appraisals.
Preparation of minor planning applications and assistance with major applications.
Drafting of accompanying statements.
Preparation of/assistance with appeals.
Negotiations between parties within the development control process.
Technical assistance to inform retail and housing/employment land availability studies.
Providing written and verbal advice to clients on a variety of planning related queries.

You should have:
General knowledge of planning
Knowledge of relevant planning policies and procedures.
Reliable technical abilities / input.
Strong professional competence.
Knowledge of contemporary planning policy issues.
Knowledge of development control procedures.
The ability to achieve targets to agreed deadlines.
The ability to work under own initiative and to organise and set own priorities within a team environment.
The ability to deal positively with clients, consultants and local authorities.
A degree in Planning.
Either full or licentiate membership of the RTPI
Some experience of working in a planning environment, either in the public or private sector.
Knowledge of retail planning would be desirable.
