Job Description

We are currently looking to recruit a Geotechnical Engineer based in Wigan to work throughout the Midlands and North of England.

You will need previous experience in Ground Investigations

Your key activities include:

- Set a high personal example of safety and environmental behaviour
- Monitor the work under their control to ensure that any unsafe work conditions and non compliance with Company policies and procedures are promptly remedied
- Maintain good working relations with client/designer/RE, together with supply chain
- Ensure that inspection and test plans are completed
- Prepare 2 weekly programmes, coordinated with overall site programme
- Prepare written risk assessments and method statements
- Ensure that testing/sampling of materials is carried out
- Order materials and maintain register of all orders placed and confirmed
- Support senior management as required in operating the cost management system, the production of programmes and forecast preparation
- Ensure all records for measurement and payment purposes are prepared
- Communicate with general foreman/drilling foreman
- Assist senior management to procure necessary materials, sub-contracts and plant

Candidate Requirements

- Successful experience at assistant geotechnical engineer level
- Thorough knowledge of geotechnical procedures and working methods
- Demonstrated application of growing commercial and contractual knowledge
- Qualified to technician or incorporated level (preferred) or equivalent knowledge
