The Role:
•Ensure highest attainable standards in the field of public health and research
•Constantly review and refine public health priorities based on local health system data and international benchmarks
•Conduct disease awareness and screening campaigns in line with the key public health priorities as defined by the HAAD Executive Committee, closely tracking the impact of each initiative
•Define targets on public health indicators
•Lead project with external consultants to restructure PMD, outsourcing the screening services and optimizing & integrating birth, notifiable disease & death reporting within the HAAD
•Review and approve strategies and new policies in all areas of public health and medical research
•Develop strategic framework for research administration and financing in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi
•Define key activities, processes and performance metrics in public health and medical research; work with external consultants to automate core business processes
•Write/refine job descriptions for key members of staff for the department and
select/hire people with adequate qualifications
•Represent the HAAD at key public health and research stakeholder meetings and events
•Develop proposals to establish legal framework for public health/prevention and

You will have:
•Degree in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Public Health or Natural Sciences (MD,
•MSc, PhD or MPH)
Skills & Experience:
•Experience in regulating public health/prevention and medical/clinical research activities. Deep understanding of various segments of public health and preventive medicine
•Experience in applying for and management of research funding
•Sound grasp of policies and regulations and current landscape of public
•health/prevention and research in Abu Dhabi
•Management experience at a reputable institute of public health or medical research
•International reputation in medical research and established contacts to industry and
•international research funds
