Job Description
SENIOR ENGINEER – GROUNDWORKS & RC FRAME. This is a current requirement for a suitably experienced Senior Engineer to get in at the ground on this new project. Currently working on the piling and bulk excavation stages, as the job comes out of the ground you will be able to progress into the structure and to take on further duties and responsibilities as the project moves into the RC substructure, basement and frame phases.
The Project is typical of the large RC structures and involves extensive piling, basement excavation, cores and floors to multiple storey levels on linked structures, moving on to the external envelope, and in some areas the fit out. The end use will see this development exhibit residential, leisure and support facilities.
An Engineering background with formal training to tertiary level and qualifications in Civil Engineering are ideal and usually a minimum of 3-5 years relevant site experience, having worked for a groundworks contractor, an RC frame contractor or a main contractor who controls the construction process or a builder / developer. Your experience should preferably have been on larger projects exceeding £ 5 - 10m.
A Senior Engineer who is able to take on the responsibility and challenges found on a busy site, and has the initiative to think and forward plan is sought. You must be fully conversant with current Construction procedures and Engineering equipment, able to read and interpret drawings, able to oversee the setting out of the Site Engineers and you may be required to assist in the setting out at pressure times, as well as clearly conveying information to the carpenters, fixers and direct labour. Programmes, Method Statements, Daily Diaries, RFI’s, CVI’s should all be familiar to you. Good oral and written communication is essential as is the ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive records of site activities.
Opportunity. This is a great opportunity for someone who has a clear understanding of the construction process and has worked on site as a setting out Engineer and now wants to develop their career on a substantial project with guidance and assistance from the Project Manager who is an Engineer and can assist your development.
Current CSCS card and a First Aid certificate would be advantageous, but not obligatory. The site works Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings. The option is available for either a long term contract or a permanent role, and the contractor has a number of other schemes underway in this vicinity, so continuity of work is available. Permission to legally live and work in the UK is essential.
