Job Description
This is an outstanding opportunity to join a recently established and highly successful consultancy, providing planning and engineering advice to the development industry. The principal or associate transport planner will join the company at the central London office at a very favourable time in its development. The right individual will join the senior management team and will have the opportunity to purchase equity in the firm.
The principal or associate transport planner will be charged with helping to realize land values through the planning, design and implementation of new transport infrastructure; the provision of advice on the transport aspect of new developments, including the preparation of Transport Assessments and Green Travel Plans to support planning applications; analysis of traffic impacts; preliminary design of accesses and internal layouts of new developments, including car parking and servicing arrangements; and negotiation of Section 106 agreements. The successful applicant will take responsibility for developing the existing business, improving technical standards and helping deliver projects to time and budget from feasibility through to detailed design.
The company attracts individuals who are likeable and engaging, conscientious, diligent and ambitious. The appointee will need a thorough knowledge of: transport policy at regional and local levels; transport strategy and development; transport appraisal and transport research; public transport, and transport modelling (e.g. micro simulations and demand forecasting). The successful candidate must have strong commercial acumen combined with the intelligence and confidence to argue a point well, and proven business development or client interaction experience. The person will have a good engineering, geography or economics degree, combined with a substantial background in transport planning, including knowledge of appropriate transport planning software i.e. Oscady , Acady, Lynsig, Transyt, Picady or TRICS.
