Job Description
Rail Contracts Manager based in Rugby for the West Coast Route Modernisation programme a project worth c£8.2 billion. The Remodelling Project combines specific renewals of life expired assets with key line speed enhancement works to deliver improved journey times, increased capacity and long term sustainability improvements through the Nuneaton and Rugby Station Control Area.
The Contract Manager's role is to support the Contract Coordinator by effective contract administration to ensure that the duties and obligations of both parties to the contract are effectively discharged.
1. Implement contract management strategy for the assigned contracts in conjunction with the Contract Coordinator and Delivery Manager.
2. Implement contract administration procedures and standard work processes.
3. Ensure compliance with applicable governing policies (including commitment authority for variations).
4. Ensure active contract management so that contractor costs are not incurred unreasonably.
5. Develop and Implement the contract Division of Responsibilities.
6. Provide guidance and support to the Contract Coordinator for the preparation and negotiation of changes variations to contracts as well as the resolution of constructive changes.
7. Administer Employer's Representative Instructions (ERI) and Variations (VO) including coordination with Programme Controls for input into internal change control (Trends and Change Requests).
8. Review contract expenditure performance indicators and advise the Project Manager and Contract Functional Management of any issues accordingly. Conditions and to identify opportunities for programme savings, schedule relief and claim avoidance.
If you have a Degree in Business, Quantity Surveying, Law, Engineering, Construction Management or Cost Engineering (or equivalent), ARICS qualified with substantive years post-qualification experience (or equivalent).Proven success in the management of post-award contract management (contract administration): monitoring contractor performance; back charge administration; resolution of claims and disputes; and other contract closeout. Technical knowledge of engineering construction industry contracting practices, and commercial regulation practisesctices.
Desirable
· Knowledge experience of supply chain activities
· Experience of cost and contract management in the UK Rail Sector;
· Good understanding of corporate financial reporting processes and analysis
· Working knowledge of Railway procedures andpractisesctices
· Understanding of corporate financial reporting processes and analysis. Chartered Corporate membership of recognised Professional Institution.
