PURPOSE:

Under the general direction of the Team Manager, the role involves the checking of Developer's highway design submissions to ensure they meet Hertfordshire County Council's technical and legal requirements.

DIMENSIONS:

Direct reports, budget responsibility and projects.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

To assist the Development Control Team in processing developer designed highways schemes.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The successful candidate will join the Development Control Team, whose work ranges from simple junctions and traffic calming schemes to major junctions and multi-million pound roads for residential, commercial and industrial developments. You will be required to liaise closely with clients, and to check developers' highway works designs to ensure they are safe, conform to standards and meet the specifications of the approved designs.

ABOUT YOU:

Ideally qualified to BENG standard, you will have experience in a highway design or maintenance field - plus good understanding of health & safety legislation, Quality Assured methods and legislation relating to highways work. It's also important that you bring the ability to evaluate innovative solutions, and a real commitment to delivering a customer-focused service.

TECHNICAL SKILLS / ABILITY:

You should have the ability to use your judgement in independent or team evaluations. Innovative solutions are important.
