Work for a leading global construction Consultancy based in Maidstone. Due to expansion and increased turnover, our Client requires a Cost Manager/Senior Project Surveyor to provide a comprehensive, accurate and cost effective service for clients and report directly to the Associate/Partner. They are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, client facing individual to be involved in commercial developments within an exciting team environment.

Summary of duties:

-To assist in all aspects of quantity surveying from inception of a project through to completion, ensuring a high technical standard and in compliance with the practice and quality assurance manual for all projects.

-To achieve the highest standards of professional competence and to demonstrate this ability in all dealings with clients and professional contacts, thus reinforcing the profile of the firm.

-To be aware of marketing opportunities and where recognised bring to the attention of Associates, Partners and the Business Development Department, in order that they may follow up potential leads enabling the development of new business.

-To maintain good relationships with both immediate and end customers; take every opportunity to uphold and increase the profile of the firm as a provider of professional, premium quality services to the construction industry.

-To act as supervisor for current graduates and work with them to achieving competencies for APC.

-To ensure total understanding of Partner and client wishes in order to deliver the service required, accurately, on time and within the set budgetary constraints.

-To ensure that communication with Senior Project Surveyors, Associates and Partners is unambiguous and timely so that they are fully up to date on the progress of projects and levels of client.

-Maintain and develop professional knowledge at least to the level required by CPD in order to provide clients and colleagues with accurate, up to date advice.

-Promote the high standing of the firm within the industry, demonstrating a commitment to the business objectives and the specific projects involved in and have an overall awareness of all the services that are offered by Davis Langdon.

-Focus on personal growth opportunities when considering new project assignments.

-To promote a positive attitude within the team, to motivate junior staff and to assist them achieve the best possible work performance.

-To become involved in non-project matters i.e. forming specialist data, social events etc.

-To review levels and the need for additional resources on projects in the context of project fees, in conjunction with Associates and Partners.

-To motivate surveyors, graduates and trainees in the completion of their tasks and to demonstrate by example; best working practices and technical and organisational skills, in addition to providing support and advice where appropriate.

-To operate as part of a team, both internally within the firm and externally with clients in order to reach common objectives.

-To develop areas of expertise that can be developed into specialist skills for future use within the firm.

-To demonstrate compliance with the Practice and Quality Assurance manuals.

-To identify and anticipate project needs / design and have the confidence, ability, and diplomacy to bring it forward to the appropriate level, whether internally or externally, in order to find a solution.

-Use standard software packages to undertake daily tasks and save resources.

-To demonstrate acceptable levels of computer literacy and contribute to the development of the use of information technology within the team.
