Job Description
Our client is the main contractor on the extension, expansion, refurb and fit out of this prestigious London airport.
You will be expected to manage the site production team to achieve the project objectives, and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation. You should ensure that suppliers / subcontractors’ works are co-ordinated, produced in accordance with the drawings and specifications without defects, and in accordance with the Contract Programme and Commercial Budgets. You will be managing the impact of the works on adjacent neighbours, public interfaces and Airport Operations, as well as interfacing with all necessary third parties including Airport Stakeholders, Consultants and Client Representatives etc, to ensure all necessary notifications and inspections are undertaken at the correct times
Duties will also include:
Project Delivery:
- Managing the site production team, suppliers and subcontractors to construct the works safely, efficiently, to programme and within budget
- Ensure that preceding works are completed to allow subcontractors to progress efficiently
- Ensure that sufficient resources are committed by subcontractors to progress the works at the rate required
- Hold or participate in subcontractor progress meetings – implement actions arising from these meetings
- Keep the project team advised of all aspects of the works. This includes the keeping of records and a daily diary
- Liaise with 3rd parties
- Implement on site quality control including the use of NCR’s
- Undertake snagging regimes and liaison with Client regarding witnessing / testing / inspections
Commercial / Financial Skills:
- Understand the financial implications of the methods and sequences of construction that are proposed and planned
- Control or be aware of expenditure against the Prelims budget
- Maintain appropriate records on the progress and commercial status of the tasks for which he / she is responsible
- Understand the contract documentation, including sub-contract documentation and the implications of changes to such.
Safety Health & Environment:
- Ensure that the works are undertaken safely and in accordance with all HS&E Legislation and the site HS&E plans
- Assess, approve and where appropriate, write Risk Assessments and Method Statements
- To have a thorough understanding of safety, health and environmental risks
- Ensure that the management and appearance of the works are to an appropriate standard
- Ensure commitment to very high standards of health, safety and the environment
- Undertake site safety, health and environmental inductions, toolbox talks and site inspections
