Job Description

Refurbishment Project Manager. Possibly coming from a main contracting background. This is an urgent requirement for an established civil engineering contractor, with a sound order book for 2008 and beyond, for a refurbishment project of 90 units in Woolwich. The contractor also works on structural refurbishment, specialist RC structures, shell and core to turnkey projects in excess of £30m.

The candidate we seek should have qualifications to Diploma or Degree status in Civil or Construction Management. You must have a proven track record in working on UK major projects incorporating total or substantial areas of refurbishment works, with a verifiable work history and be permitted to legally live and work in the UK. If you are currently a No 2 on a large project and have drive and potential you may be able to fulfil this role.

The company has a turnover exceeding £150m and already has work secured for the forthcoming year that will see a considerable growth in turnover and is expanding and developing further market sectors. This company has a reputation for pushing the jobs forward and winning additional phases, in their goal to increase their turnover. Client satisfaction is paramount and this has led to a high level of repeat business.

Current projects range from £250,000 to £32m and the intention is to increase the staff levels to run existing and secured projects, whilst also taking a positive role in securing further work. Building and civils trained professionals will be equally required to fill the varying roles.

You must come from a background where you have had experience in major projects either from a main contractor’s standpoint or as one of the major subcontractors on the schemes. Able to demonstrate a good employment track record you must be self motivated and prepared to put in the additional effort and time that will win work, meet deadlines and provide commercial success. Well versed in programming and meeting demanding targets, you must be able to take responsibility for your and your subordinates’ achievements when reporting to the Contracts Director.
