Job Description

Civil / Site Engineer. New project with a considerable amount of structural alterations and modifications, temporary works and deep excavation in an environment that is in the city with Rail and Underground stations nearby.

With a turnover exceeding £120m, operating from offices within the M25, and covering a geographical area that includes London and the Home counties, this well known contractor covers the full range of work from site investigations and ground remediation, demolition, civil engineering and groundworks to reinforced concrete structures.

We currently require an experienced Engineer with a minimum of 3 years relevant UK experience in Groundworks and Infrastructure, familiar with the latest surveying equipment, to take over from the current Engineer who is undertaking a “round the world trip”. A more senior role may also be available in the near future.

The job will initially involve a considerable amount of investigative work and an ongoing one of locating and replacing / updating services and facilities with the associated groundworks. You will need to be a good communicator as there is a high client involvement. Able to read drawings and explain the information in layman’s terms to the direct labour workforce, good record keeping skills, Technical Engineering ability, whilst being able to get on with people will make this your role.

You will be qualified to a tertiary level in Civil Engineering, or an associated field. Full proficiency with the latest surveying equipment and good IT literacy will also be required, as will a positive and pro-active approach to Health & Safety.

The civil engineering division of the company has worked and is currently working on some of the most high profile mixed use sites in the South East. The business specialises in commercial & highways, infrastructure works and groundworks. Typical contract values range from £0.5m to £15m. Providing the client with full engineering solutions and specific engineering packages, depending on the nature of the development, a role of Principal Contractor or Sub Contractor is fulfilled.

This is a good chance to join a progressive company on a long term freelance basis, though a permanent role would be a possibility at a later date. Only people who are legally entitled to live and work in the UK will be considered.
