Job Description

Site Engineer for long term freelance role.

The project is just coming out of the ground / at foundation level and will continue until May 2008. Three separate and distinct buildings all on one site. A traditional RC frame, a steel frame above RC basement and lower floors and a hybrid that involves some in-situ concrete and some pre-cast elements.

You will join an experienced Senior Engineer, reporting directly to him and will be responsible for accurate and timely setting out of line and level on one or more of the frames.

Qualified to a tertiary level in Civil Engineering or an associated discipline you will have good oral and written skills as you will need to clearly communicate with the site foreman and the chippies and fixers. Able to use current survey equipment, Leica is used here, able to read and interpret construction drawings and good at record keeping, you should be IT literate.

The company was established 50 years ago and now specialises in Substructure, Superstructure, Basements and Infrastructure Works, turning over about £100m yearly. They carry out projects for both end user clients and main contractors and are proud of the level of repeat business they obtain. The labour force is directly employed and is trained to meet the requirements of a strict Health & Safety policy.

A valued reputation for innovative working methods in the concrete sector has been gained over the years, of particular note are the following:
• Precast/insitu hybrid solutions can provide the benefits of pre-cast quality finished works and enhanced outputs, with the stability of in-situ frames.
• A bespoke walling system that has been developed and successfully used to construct in aggressive ground conditions, provide watertight construction and as a solution for modular structures such as hotels and residential developments.
