Job Description

Project or Senior Engineers x5 for RC frames. Required for a successful contractor who is starting work on additional projects and has 3 specific jobs that will require extra Professional Engineering input in the autumn. With a wealth of experience in the RC disciplines, this is an up and coming contractor who is working on projects to £7m.

The company is Midlands based with regional operations in south Wales and Manchester & the north. The work involves predominantly in situ RC frame work with elements of pre-cast for installed items. There are current vacancies in each of the operating areas due to winning additional work.

The schemes are similar in that they generally comprise traditional groundworks starting with excavation, moving on through piling and drainage, then onto the RC sub-structure and super-structure; in some instances the company will interface / take over from a conventional groundworks contractor, though they aim to keep as much in house as possible. Steel frames may be utilised for the upper stories and for the mezzanines and atrium display areas if suitable. The schemes are generally commercial comprising multi-storey structures with associated basements and externals.

An Engineering background is preferred for managerial staff, with formal tertiary Civil Engineering qualifications or Commercial Construction leanings; trades qualified staff will be considered if they have a suitable track record and experience. Engineers who are capable of working with the Project Managers to provide the site setting out information accurately to their Site Engineers and are able to stay ahead of the workforce are sought. Standard QA procedures will be in place and your duties will include supervising setting out and following up with as-builts, checking for design queries, maintaining the site diary, raising RFI’s, cubing up for concrete, supervising pours and generally ensuring that the sites proceed as smoothly and satisfactorily as possible. This is a role that requires a good level of communication and the ability to work with the Site Foremen to plan ahead. Engineers with a good breadth of experience and seeking to move up the career ladder would suit.
