A progressive and expanding environmental consultancy is looking for a Senior Consultant to join the Contaminated Land Team in Edinburgh. Experience gained within a consultancy or industry environment coupled with specific knowledge of conducting contaminated land assessment and remediation projects is essential, as is an interest and track record in business development activities. With a technical background in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or an equivalent discipline, you will have strong project management skills and be able to demonstrate an ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
Rather than focusing on a single aspect of land quality, the successful candidate will be expected to see projects through from the initial proposal stage to implementation, validation and regulatory sign off. As part of a large multidisciplinary team you will be able to draw on the skills of hydrogeologists, civil engineers, geologists, hydrologists, chemists and environmental scientists. Daily tasks will include client care, business development and responsibility for the technical management and delivery of projects. The role will involve mentoring junior staff therefore strong communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work well in a team environment. The range of work is diverse and is reflected in a broad spectrum of clients covering multi-national blue chip companies (such as Corus, Novelis, Scottish & Newcastle); local authorities (including Falkirk Council, Glasgow City Council, East Lothian Council, Allerdale Borough Council); landowners (Defence Estates, Scottish Water); and legal and financial clients (Burness, io Group, AXA).
